Sunday's Slowness

There are days when we feel rushed, where we have to be at eight places at the same time, but then there are Sunday's. Sunday leads to lingering. It slows us down. It allows us the freedom to read, to drink a second cup of coffee. It is a day of slowness. We hug our loved ones a little longer. We delve into the stories of past generations and we gather everyone for great food. Sunday's post Covid look way different, but they still allow us along time to read, do whatever makes your happy. Sunday's are for YOU!

Recently I have been taking a class with Susannah Conway. It is called the Sacred Along. If you have not taken it I highly recommend it. It is Sunday for 14 days. She sends daily meditations that for this gal have been amazing. It is a constant reminder to slow down, hear your breathing, and relax. We build up so much tension and stress during the week that we need a day to let it all go. Like this smoke in the photo above. We have to let it blow away. This AM I had to mow, and yes HAD TO, I mean jungle animals were going to move in soon. Afterwards I sat in my swing and read, drank my water, and just listened to the birds. Blue birds, robins, chickadees, they all came to say good morning. My breath caught in my throat and I was so thankful for the world reminding me of the Slowness of Sunday's. No work, some laundry, swinging , and some great chicken made, but It was a day of realizing that when I bother to slow down, life can be purely amazing.

Yard work to me is therapeutic. I blast music and mow, up, down, up,down in rows. One side done, one side to go. Picking up sticks in the way of the mower, cleaning up my yard, and then swinging. Sunday's for me used to just be a day or getting through. Getting everything clean, getting everything accomplished. I marked of mental checks in my head. Box one, check, box two, check! I was pushing the day away. With life being so stressful with Covid I realized that I was just getting frustrated with the day to day mundane and my joy was gone. For me, who is full of energy and happy 99% of the time, that is saying something.

I began to do everything that needed to be done (as much as I could ) on Saturdays. I obviously had to mow today, but my goal weekly is to have nothing to do on my Sunday's. I want peace. I want to swing for hours, drink my lemon water, swat at bugs (ok that one not so much) but honestly we all deserve a day of rest. Sunday is your day! It is there for you to embrace. It is there for you to fall into it and swing in a hammock, ride bikes with your family, cook some chicken, some family recipe, spend time just breathing in , and out.

I highly recommend them! Also I hope you have a super slow Sunday filled with love, laughter, stories, and good food. Perhaps even an evening porch swing. Here is to a life filled with slow Sunday's
