Senoia to Woodsbury
All who wander are not lost. Have you heard that before? Of course you have. I love to wander. I am constantly researching day trips in Georgia. I love to see new things that this amazing state has to see. This is Starr's Mill in Fayetville Ga. A few years back we had a used book sale and one of the books I picked up was "Off the Beaten Path of Georgia." It contained within its pages so many new to me places and I scooped it right up and took it home to delve into it. It made my heart light to find new places to wander. I wanted to be able to go for a day and see things, but return home and not to need to stay in a hotel.
Starr's Mill is about an hour and forty five minutes from me. It is a little north of Senoia Georgia which I am in love with. It is a very cute town. I am not a Walking Dead fan but apparently they film there a lot. This mill reminds me of the one that my mom used to live next to in Clinton NJ.
This is the Clinton Mill in Clinton NJ. I apparently have a thing for travel and red mills.
This was up the street from my moms' condo. I used to go early mornings while she slept and go take pictures of it.I did finally get her out for coffee one morning and take pictures with her of the town. Clinton NJ is mad expensive to live in, but I could I would love to own a house in the town. I love the feel of being able to walk to town for coffee whenever you want.
Down the road about 30 minutes is Woodbury Ga. I learned from my book that this was the oldest covered bridge in the state. Well of course I needed to venture to it. It was so muggy and sticky the other day when I went, but nope did not care and walked the whole bridge and boardwalk. I was happy to see they added ties to the boardwalk as last time boards were missing and I was worried I would fall through. Drove the car over anyways because hello its the oldest covered bridge in the state. It was built in the 1840's and I fell in love. Bamboo to one side, woods on the other and a creek underneath and I was a goner. I love to take adventures. I sat and wondered about how this would have been built. Who was the person who decided there needed to be a bridge here? What were the peoples lives like who lived on the other side?
History has never been an interest of mine. I don't read to learn about how a thing came about, but Georgia has made me a believer. There is so much history in this state. Some good, some bad, but it is all there for me to discover in my trips. I am not sure where the next one will take me, but I am sure it will be a good one.Time to take out my book again and see what I can find. History is waiting for me to unearth it and wander to it.
Happy Sunday all!
