Once upon a Time

 

 

Once upon a time life was filled with chaotic children and schedules and all the things that come with having little people under feet, but now I am on the other side and my kids are adults and life is quiet.

I miss the chaos, but enjoy the peace. I get to write more, read more, bake more. I get more me time which we all know with young kids, you barely sleep and are always listening for them to call you our of bed for water, another hug, or just one more story.

Now I sleep through the night, I read like my life depends upon it, an the house is quiet. It seems eerie at first and then you breathe out and notice the peace, you notice the chairs are not sticky anymore and that you can come and go when you want. 

Life is filled with different cycles. You are born, you grow and learn and become a member of the outside world and you remember the times when the kids scraped a knee or needed surgery for a broken leg. You remember going to church with your 4 year old to learn how to line dance and how your kiddo was the highlight of everyone's day.

You remember your kids singing in the kids choir at church. You remember all the people who helped raise your little one. You are thankful for the village you are now surrounded by, and you think back to once upon a time when life was chaotic and you had no time to even go to the bathroom alone.

Once upon a time you are older, you have grandkids and you are loved and treasured. Once upon a time life was out of balance and you were married to the wrong person and now, now you are remarried, happy, and know you are the best version of yourself. Now you know self care, you know rest is important you and know you can say no to whatever you really do not want to do in this one precious life you have. 

Life cycles, You are born, you grow, you are an adult, you have kids, a pet, a trip to anywhere you want to go. And then you have a new photography show, you work on your art, your own things and you get to do all the things and have fun with the grandkids and once upon a time is here, now, and you are just feeling blessed and thankful. Life has been hard and easy and filled with challenges you met head on, or hid until it came to a head. Life is a once upon a time, we only get one go round in this life. Make it your best and remember...once upon a time.
