Perfect Christmas Season

It was a Christmas to remember. There was family, there was food, there was gaming, and boxes, bows, and bags. It started smooth and stayed straight all the way. It was people coming and going. It was an unexpected kitten into our lives. It was meeting new people and remembrance of the old ones that passed. It was a mix of old and new. It was four generations under one roof, eating food, huddled together with blessings, and gathering to celebrate Jesus’s birth. It was magical.

My daughter came home from NC along with our kitty.A Kitten came into our lives by way of someone not supposed to have one and it needed a home. My son and his girlfriend drove down and spent a few nights. It was my ex husband and his mom breaking through the divorce line and remembering we are all family. It was family through the generations; Grandmother, Son, and Grand kids. It was filled with love, advice, and of course a cake for Jesus’s birthday.

The morning was filled with hot cocoa, chocolate chip pancakes, syrup, and juice. It was Christmas eve tradition of ordering pizza and Christmas day lasagna. There were the traditional sugar cookies, reindeer napkins, and green plates and cups that meant I didn’t spend the day washing dishes and enjoyed everyone. Soda, beer, and water were drank. Snacks were offered and apple pie with improvements this year.

It was stocking filled with small presents. There were stacking dolls, necklaces, and or course legos for all. There were oooohs and ahhhhs followed by “Oh can I see that!” It was a kid thrilled about Santa to thanks mom I love it! It was opening gifts by a lit tree surrounded by Christmas music filling the air.

Christmas was outstanding this year. No one expecting huge things, but thankful for all the small things. There were knit things for everyone as well. There were sailboat ornaments, new mugs, and tons of camera accessories. It was books for all surprising them all happily with what I knew they would love. It was a blended family finding their way, stumbling down over and over through the day, followed by laughter and love. It was a true blessing.

The Christmas stuff is down. The Valentines stuff went up. Some twinkle lights are up, some bottle brush trees still remain. Remnants of the holiday linger here and there, Valentines items carrying us forward. Winter days are filled with games, laughter, and cocoa. Winter washing over us all, letting life linger for us to enjoy. Everyone has gone to their own home now, but this holiday season has my heart feeling so full I fear it will explode. Happy Holiday Season to you and your family too!

I hope your holidays were bright and full of love.Happy New years to you all and may 2018 be one of hope, light, kindness, and filled with the ones you love!
